Grand Cru’s Winery of the Month - July
Nestled in Victoria’s high country near Myrtleford, Gapsted Wines is an award-winning family-owned cool climate winery. For wine connoisseurs, Gapsted produce wines that are both traditional and innovative, including the classic styles of Cabernet Sauvignon and the newer Fiano and Saperavi.
Six families saw the potential for high quality cool climate wines in this area and brought their influence and knowledge to produce them. They were grape growers, winemakers or business owners who were influential in the region and saw the benefits of managing the product quality from grapevine to bottle.
The influence of the Italian community within the area has shaped what grapes are grown, which has allowed the Australian wine industry to become leaders in creating wine styles such as Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, Fiano and Barbera.
